Why Do Women Travel Across Europe for a Portrait Experience?
There is a question I am often asked:
Why would a woman travel hundreds—or even thousands—of kilometers for a photoshoot?
The answer is simple.
Because what happens here is about so much more than photographs.
Women travel to my studio from across Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Spain and beyond because they are searching for something deeper. Not a new profile picture. Not a glamorous makeover.
They are searching for a way back to themselves.
Melanie's story is a beautiful example of that journey.
Same woman. Different relationship with herself.
Meet Melanie
Melanie is 51 years old and lives in Rothenbrunnen, Switzerland. She works as a caregiver, dedicating her days to caring for others with compassion and strength.
When I asked Melanie what excited her most about participating in my Iconic Women Portrait Series, her answer touched me deeply:
"Dass ich mich und meine Geschichte in die Welt tragen kann und ein gutes Beispiel für andere Frauen bin, es mir gleich zu tun."
"To share myself and my story with the world and be a positive example for other women to do the same."
How often do women place themselves at the center of their own story?
For most women, the answer is: rarely.
We spend years caring for our families, supporting our partners, raising children, building careers, and showing up for everyone around us. Somewhere along the way, many women stop seeing themselves.
Melanie came to change that.
The Courage to Be Seen
Stepping in front of a professional camera can feel vulnerable.
Especially for women who have spent decades putting everyone else first.
Many of the women who come to my studio tell me the same thing:
"I am not photogenic."
"I don't know how to pose."
"I've never done anything like this before."
And yet, every single one of them arrives carrying something extraordinary within them.
A lifetime of experiences.
Strength.
Wisdom.
Resilience.
Beauty.
Not despite their age—but because of it.
When Melanie arrived, I could already see those qualities shining beneath the surface. My role was simply to help her see them too.
" I Felt Like a Queen "
One of the most emotional moments came when Melanie shared her experience after the photoshoot.
She said:
"Ich habe mich wie eine Königin gefühlt."
"I felt like a queen."
As she continued speaking, she described something I hear often from the women I photograph. That feeling of arriving unsure of yourself and leaving transformed. Not because someone changed who you are. But because you are finally given permission to see yourself differently.
She said:
"Du kommst rein wie ein Aschenputtel und gehst wie ein Model."
"You come in feeling like Cinderella and leave feeling like a model."
What I love about this statement is that it isn't really about looking like a model. It is about remembering your worth. Remembering your presence. Remembering that confidence was never something you needed to earn. It was always there. Sometimes it simply needs to be reflected back to you.
The Iconic Women Portrait Series
The Iconic Women Portrait Series was born from a simple belief:
Every woman deserves to see herself as extraordinary.
Not someday.
Not after losing weight.
Not after achieving another goal.
Not after life becomes less busy.
Now.
This portrait series celebrates women from all walks of life—entrepreneurs, mothers, artists, executives, caregivers, dreamers, and visionaries. Women in their 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s, and beyond. Women who have incredible stories to tell. Women whose faces carry the beauty of a life fully lived.
Each portrait session becomes a celebration of who they are today and everything they have overcome to become that woman.
The Way I See Women
There is something I wish every woman could understand. You do not need to become someone else to be worthy of being photographed.
You do not need to be younger. You do not need to be thinner. You do not need to be more confident.
The women I photograph are already enough.
When I look through my lens, I do not search for perfection. I look for truth. I look for strength hidden behind a gentle smile. I look for resilience behind tired eyes. I look for elegance that comes from experience. I look for the unique light that exists within every woman. Because that light deserves to be seen. And remembered.
More Than a Photograph
The experience does not end when the photoshoot is over. For me, portraits are meant to live beyond a screen. They deserve a place within your home.
A beautifully printed portrait becomes more than artwork. It becomes a daily reminder.
A reminder of your courage.
A reminder of your beauty.
A reminder of the woman you are when you stop shrinking and start taking up space.
Years from now, these photographs will tell a story. Not only to you. But to your children, grandchildren, and future generations. They will see a woman who chose to be visible. A woman who chose to celebrate herself. A woman who understood her own value. Just like Melanie. And that is a legacy worth preserving.
Are You Ready to See Yourself Differently?
Women travel from across Europe to experience the Iconic Women Portrait Series. Not because they need photographs. But because they deserve to see themselves through a new lens. Perhaps it's your turn.
