ICONIC WOMAN is a limited portrait series created to celebrate women at one of the most compelling stages of their lives.
It is an invitation to step in front of the camera with intention — to experience yourself through an editorial lens and create portraits that reflect the woman you are today.
Hi, I’m Mayumi — the woman behind the camera.
For more than a decade, I photographed women in the United States whose lives tell extraordinary stories. Women who have loved deeply, persevered through challenges, celebrated successes, embraced change, and grown into themselves with every passing year.
Now, from my private Portrait Atelier in Innsbruck, I am bringing this experience to Europe for a limited time — offering an empowering portrait experience created especially for women 40+.
Many arrive believing they are simply stepping in front of the camera. What they discover is something far more meaningful: an opportunity to see themselves through a different lens. To recognize their strength. To honor their journey. To celebrate the beauty, confidence, and presence that experience has given them.

Every ICONIC WOMAN experience is thoughtfully designed around the woman in front of the camera and includes:
01 — The Consultation
We begin with a personal conversation about you, your story and how you want to be seen. Together, we design a bespoke portrait experience reflecting your story, style, and vision — from concept and wardrobe guidance to professional hair and makeup artistry.
02 — The Portrait Session
You don't need to know how to pose. You will receive expert guidance through expression, movement and moment. Every detail is thoughtfully curated so you can simply arrive, relax, and enjoy the experience.
03 — The Reveal
Following your portrait session, you will be invited to a private reveal where you will see your portraits for the first time. You will choose the portraits that speak to you and explore how you would like to preserve them as finished artwork.
The Artwork
Your chosen portraits become beautifully crafted artwork — created to be seen, lived with, and treasured for years to come. Because some photographs are meant to become part of your legacy.

Your Experience Fee includes the complete ICONIC WOMAN portrait experience, from your personal consultation and professional makeup and wardrobe styling to your guided portrait session and private reveal.
Portrait artwork is commissioned separately
Portrait collections begin at €2.400.
When you choose and commission your collection in advance, the €350 Experience Fee is included.

Mayumi was able to bring out and capture the side of me that was rarely ever seen by others, let alone myself. This was my very first time ever to do a photoshoot and it was such a fun and exciting experience, that I feel like I want to do more! At 67, there are days that I feel a little dowdy. I don't tend to dress up a lot, but I always feel great when I do, so the idea of getting glammed up and feeling really alive was a big draw! Over the years, I have gotten so busy caring for others, that I had forgotten that I needed to take care of myself. I looked up one day and no longer recognized myself. As someone who strives for perfections, it is daunting to make peace with all the cracks, wounds, and woes. My insecurities recently rose to the surface when I was asked to step into a project that was bigger than me. As with everyone Mayumi works with, she saw a light within me and gracefully encouraged me to step forward. I am humbled and grateful.

LAVONA, 74: "I wanted to embrace who I am now, in this moment of life".
There are a lot of years under my belt...74 & 9 months to be exact!! As I age, I want to do so gracefully and to document the milestones. Celebrating life with portraits to leave as a legacy for my grandchildren and generations beyond has always been important to me. I also wanted to be a role model/example to other women that aging is something to be celebrated and not denied, and that women in their 70's and beyond have much wisdom and experience to share with the world.

I’ve wanted to do a professional photo shoot for a long time, but always came up with an excuse not to. But this time I said it is time for me to do something for myself! Participating in this project is a part of my healing journey. I lost sight of myself, my worth and had no self love. I wanted to remind myself that I am worthy and I am beautiful inside and out. I am so glad I decided to stop making excuses and get out of my comfort zone and did something fun for me.

When I look in the mirror, I may see a strong, go getter who will persevere against all odds. However, it was not until the much-anticipated photo reveal that I saw a soft vulnerability, a woman who still knows what happy looks like & how to celebrate life yet has a fierce, raging fire inside to create positive change in the world. Each photo brought to life faded chapters of my beautifully, complicated story. The experience was an awakening, a much-needed reminder that we are so much more than the to-do list that suffocates our lives.
A PORTRAIT SERIES WITH A LARGER PURPOSE
A selection of portraits from the ICONIC WOMAN Portrait Edition will be presented in a fine-art exhibition celebrating women, experience, beauty, and personal legacy.
Each woman becomes part of a larger portrait story — one that honors what it means to grow, evolve, and become more fully yourself.
For those who choose to be featured, participation extends beyond the portrait session. Each featured woman will receive a complimentary invitation to the exhibition and a personal copy of the ICONIC WOMAN magazine — preserving her place within this collective portrait of women and the stories they carry.

A: Absolutely. Most of the women I photograph have never stepped in front of a professional camera before. You don't need any modelling experience. From posing and expression to wardrobe selection and styling, I will guide you through every step of the experience, ensuring you feel comfortable, confident, and beautifully photographed.

A: You're not alone. In fact, it's one of the most common concerns I hear. My approach is gentle, supportive, and entirely tailored to you. We take our time, create a relaxed atmosphere, and before long, you'll forget the camera is there and simply enjoy the experience.

A: Your €350 experience fee includes the complete ICONIC WOMAN experience: your personal consultation, professional hair and makeup artistry, wardrobe guidance, fully guided editorial portrait session and private portrait reveal.
Finished portraits in digital format and artwork are commissioned separately.

A: Absolutely. Many women travel from across Europe and beyond to enjoy their portrait experience in our Innsbruck studio.
All consultations can be conducted in English, German, or Spanish, and every step of the experience is thoughtfully guided to ensure you feel comfortable and supported from the very beginning. Whether you are visiting Innsbruck specifically for your portrait experience or incorporating it into your travels, we are delighted to welcome clients from around the world.
